Marvin Jay Cuyugan Agustin, better known by his stage name Marvin Agustin (born January 29, 1979) at Peñafrancia, Paco, Manila) is a Filipino actor and entrepreneur, famous for his love-team partnership with Filipina actress Jolina Magdangal in numerous TV sitcoms, TV dramas and romantic-comedy movies.
Marvin Agustin started in more than 30 Filipino movies and tv series, including Marilou Diaz-Abaya's Noon at Ngayon, Chito Rono's Dekada '70, Laurice Guillen's Tanging Yaman, Jose Javier Reyes' Kutob, Marilou Diaz-Abaya's Maging Akin Muli, Joyce Bernal's Hey Babe, Jerry Lopez Sineneng's Labs Ko Si Babes, Jose Javier Reyes' Whattamen, Laurenti Dyogi's Gimik and Olivia Lamasan's Sa Sandaling Kailangan Mo Ako.
He won his first TV and film acting awards for his performance as Filipino boxing champion Rolando Navarette in Maalaala Mo Kaya's Boxing Gloves episode in 2004's 1st Golden Screen Entertainment TV Awards, and as a disturbed psycho Lemuel in the horror-thriller Kutob in 2005's 31st Metro Manila Film Festival.
Aside from perennial loveteam partner Jolina Magdangal, he also co-starred in romantic dramas with Kristine Hermosa in Sa Sandaling Kailangan Mo Ako in 1998 and Filipina-Australian actress Janette McBride in Star Drama Theater Presents - Rave in 2001.
A homegrown artist of ABS-CBN's Star Magic, Marvin named Octo Arts producer Orly Ilacad as his manager and moved to GMA Network which reunited him with Jolina in I Luv NY that was partly shot in New York. He co-starred with Angel Locsin, Diana Zubiri, and Robin Padilla in Asian Treasures that was shot partly in other Asian countries.
He also played a hunchback Gabriel in Mga Mata ni Anghelita. He plays Gabriel, a kind hearted man who will protect Anghelita from bad influences. Recently, he also joined the GMA Artists Center as one of its stable of talents. It was not known whether Ilacad co-manages his career with the Artist Center.
He recently joined the cast of the upcoming GMA Primetime, Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita but his character killed off (including Diana Zubiri who is recently killed off from BADK) so Agustin would take time to become a leading man to Camille Prats, who is Sunshine Dizon's replacement, and Zubiri herself in Sine Novela: Gaano Kadalas Ang Minsan?. He's played one of the villains in "LaLola " where he worked with Rhian Ramos and JC de Vera.
He also hosted a musical variety show on GMA 7 in "SOP Rules" and a youth oriented drama anthology "Dear Friend" together with his former loveteam Jolina Magdangal every Sundays and he currently hosted a comedy informative show in "Outrageous & Courageous" that aired every tuesday evenings on GMA Network.
He is also part on the drama mini series "SRO Cinema Serye Presents: Ganti" together with Sheryl Cruz, Maxene Magalona & Geoff Eigenmann aired every Thursday evenings.
He has a new comedy teleserye also on GMA airing soon together again with Jolina Magdangal called "Adik Sa'Yo" this May 2009.
After Agustin polished his cooking skills at International School for Culinary arts and Hotel Management, he started his business career by building his own restaurant called Sumo Sam, which specializes in Japanese-American modern cuisine that has branches in Edsa Shangrila Mall and Rockwell Power Plant Mall. He also owns the hit cosmopolitan Japanese restaurant in the new Greenbelt 5 mall called John and Yoko. He also owns the Cafe Ten Titas restaurant in Gateway Mall and Samurai Chef in Trinoma Mall in Quezon City. Marvin is also the man behind Ricecapades, which serves variations of mixed rice and a part-owner of Oyster Boy Restaurant. He will open to new 2 restaurants in Greenbelt 3, Marciano's, a new-age Italian restaurant and Harajuku, a Euro-Japanese restautrant, in Megaworld's newest development Eastwood Mall. He is recently pinch-hitting as the host in the second season of Q 11's Chef To Go for Rob Pengson.
Since the transfer to GMA7, Marvin has been linked to many young celebrities including Diana Zubiri, Katrina Halili, Pauleen Luna and many more. Has 2 older sisters.
Owns a Mister Donut outlet.
Partnered with the late Rico Yan and Dominic Ochoa in the Whattamen trio.
Worked in numerous establishments before getting discovered.
He Has twin children named Santiago and Sebastian (August 2005) with his former girlfriend Tet Cuyugan. He and Cuyugan share joint custody of the children.
